Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully before using Lifelines Legacy.

⚠️ Critical Disclaimers

Lifelines Legacy is NOT a legal will, trust, or estate planning document. It does not transfer ownership, create legal rights, or satisfy requirements for a valid will.

We do NOT provide legal, financial, or tax advice. Consult qualified professionals for estate planning matters.

Designating "trusted people" grants Lifelines access only. It does NOT give them legal authority, power of attorney, or access to your actual accounts.

1. Agreement to Terms

By using Lifelines Legacy, you represent that you are at least 13 years old. Users under 18 may use the Service through a Family Group with parental or guardian oversight. You must have the legal capacity to enter a binding agreement (or parental/guardian consent if you are a minor).

2. Description of Service

Lifelines Legacy allows you to securely store account credentials, passwords, and PINs; upload and organize important documents; designate trusted people for emergency access; create and manage Family Groups with shared subscriptions; set up Wellness Checks; and manage your digital legacy.

3. User Accounts & Security

You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your master password and all activities under your account. We employ zero-knowledge architecture — we cannot recover your master password if lost.

4. Subscription & Payment

Plans: Free (limited features), Personal ($4.99/mo), Family ($9.99/mo for up to 6 members). Cancel anytime via Settings or your app store. Access continues until billing period ends, then data retained for 30 days.

5. Prohibited Uses

You may not use Lifelines Legacy for illegal purposes, store illegal content, attempt unauthorized access, circumvent security measures, or share account credentials except via our designated sharing features.

6. Your Content

You retain ownership of your content. You grant us a limited license to store and process it for the Service. Due to zero-knowledge encryption, we cannot access your encrypted vault content.

7. Trusted People & Sharing

You control who can access your vault and what they can see. For Emergency Access to work, your trusted people must create a free Lifelines account and set up their own vault password. You can modify or revoke access at any time.

8. Family Groups

Family Group owners manage the shared subscription. Co-parents can help oversee the group. Minor members may be added with parental oversight. Each member has their own private, encrypted vault. The Shared Family Vault allows sharing notes and information with the group.

9. Emergency Access

Designated contacts can request access after a waiting period you set (24 hours to 30 days). You’ll be notified and can deny the request. If you don’t respond before the waiting period ends, access is automatically granted.

10. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties. Our maximum liability is the amount paid in the 12 months preceding a claim, or $100. We are not liable for actions of your trusted people or data loss.

11. Termination

You may delete your account anytime. We may terminate accounts that violate these terms. Upon termination, your encrypted data will be deleted after a 30-day grace period.
